10 Random Acts of Kindness

I don't know about you, but I love loving on people. I don't care if that person is a complete stranger or a friend, I just love giving gifts. Life is simply better when I spoil people. Maybe you're here because you're like me and want new ideas on how to love people. Or maybe you're here to spark some inspiration cuz you're not sure what to do as a gift for somebody. Either way, I'm glad you're here!

Random acts of kindness are a simple way to show the love of Christ to those around us, by loving people without judgement, without expectation and with grace. Here's a list of 10 ways you can love your neighbor both intentionally and thoughtfully.

1) Sticky Notes

Write something happy or encouraging on sticky notes and stick them to cars in a parking lot, mirrors in a public bathroom, or elevators in an office, library, hotel, or apartment building.

2) Flowers

Buy a bouquet of flowers for $5-$10 at walmart and then hand out one flower at a time to random strangers as they leave the store.

3) Handwritten Note

If you're far away from a friend that need a pick-me-up, consider mailing them a hand-written note reminding them of a favorite memory you have together, what their friendship means to you, and/or encourage them to pursue a goal you know they have.

4) Favorite *fill in the blank*

Send someone their favorite song, an inside joke, or a meme from their favorite movie or tv show. The possibilities are endless with this one.

5) Home Cooked Meal

Cook up a meal and deliver it to your friend who is struggling with an illness, going through a tough time, or some parents who need a break to spend time with their kiddos.

6) Motivational Text or Call

Similar to the hand-written note, you can text or call your friend who needs some encouragement and tell them what you love about them, remind them of a fun time you had together, or crack some jokes.

7) Care Package

Find a friend that needs a little love! Drop off a care package on their porch or ship it to them. Fill a box or basket with 5-10 items you know this person will like. These items could be gift cards, candles, journals, sketchbooks, candy, fuzzy socks, etc. The possibilities are endless.

8) Do a Chore for Them

If you have a friend that you know is overwhelmed with everything going on in their life, ask them if you can help them relax. Go to their home and do the dishes, take out the trash, laundry, or clean something for them. Literally anything that needs done, do it for them. Don't let them help. It's their time to relax.

9) Special Delivery

Surprise them at work or home with a coffee, soda, or snack you know they'll love.

10) Prayer

Send a friend you know a typed prayer, a recorded video of you praying for them, or drive to their home and sit with them and pray over them. Whatever they're going through, whether good or bad, prayer is always a good idea. Prayer is powerful and it works!
